Today Ms. Patel commented on my reoccurring theme of nature and how I was involved with reusing items. She also brought up the same point that you brought up, which is what will my final piece look like? I am still in the midst of figuring it out, but I am confident in the art I have done.

Week Five Reflection

This past week I worked on recycling everyday items and giving life to something black and white. I used my sweet tea bottle and embellished it with water colors and beads. I painted the top orange, yellow and green and I let some of the paint run. I also printed a photo of me being “YOUnique”. I used acrylic paint which made the black and white photo pop.

Crit Notes #2

Today I got positive feedback and some constructive criticism about my artwork. I was asked what my final plan was; I don’t have one yet, but I like working on little things. I will continue to work on the little projects and starting new ones. I want to figure out a way to display them all to make it an effective piece.

Week Four Reflection

What an exciting week this has been in the art world of Brett! My film for the polaroid camera came in the mail on Monday and I have been experimenting with different shots and incorporating importance into my life into my art. One theme I explored this week is individuality. I decided yesterday to make a piece that sort of describes me. What I did was I used the transferrable letters and transfered them to a piece of paper. It states “BE YOUnique”, which is punning being yourself and being unique. I printed out a photo of myself in black and white and I used acrylic paints to accentuate the boldness of my personality.

This past week I felt inspired by different found materials. I did not spend as much time drawing, but instead looked around for random objects. I also decided to add natural beauty to things you would not expect as being beautiful. I also decided I was going to use polaroid instafilm to take pictures to give them an authentic feel.

Week 2

This past week I focused on establishing some sort of an idea. For most of the week I was looking for inspiration on the internet and started sketching. Music was also a key factor to my inspiration. I was inspired by “Ironic” by Alanis Morissette and “Stand” by Jewel. I made a large scale sketch of what I wanted the final piece to look like. I imagine some sort of a diagram with layers and next week I will draw the different layers on layered paper.
